Girls’ teams under way

HARPURHEY United under 13 Saints started strongly against Oldham Athletic Girls, and within minutes a shot from Kayomi Clarke had found the back of the net.

Minutes later a great finish by Holly Rule put Saints in the driving seat.

Clarke went on to find the net twice more before the half-time whistle.

She again opened the scoring in the second half with a magnificent finish.

Holly Rule went on to score a hat-trick, and further goals came from Clara Harvey Hunt and Annette Schofield.

Girl of the match was Kayomi Clarke.

Harpurhey under 11 Angels also came up against Oldham Athletic.

Angels looked great in their first match of the season after receiving a new kit, courtesy of Specsavers, Harpurhey.

They showed they mean business this season.

Tia John slotted in the first goal after a brilliant through ball from Demi Thomas.

John managed to rack up all four goals, and her partnership with Demi Thomas produced some great football.

Angels’ defensive line-up was strong and denied Oldham virtually any chances, although Oldham did grab a late goal.

Angels under 10s also sported a new kit, provided by REACT Environmental Services, in their match against Elton Sports Club.

Catherine Davies scored soon after the start.

Paige Nixon and Samantha Lomas played brilliantly in midfield, while Mia Jackson and Jessica Cox were rocks in Angels’ defence.

Keeper Abigail Perry was outstanding.

Catherine Davies finished with three goals to her name, and Aimee Leary hit six in the 9-0 win.
