City set to greet the best in the world

THE Hi-Tec World Squash Championships – Manchester 2008 is set to be the biggest tournament ever staged in the history of the sport, with the world’s best men and women battling it out for the honours.
The championships return to mainland England after a 21-year absence and mark an historic landmark for the sport.
It will be the first time the men’s and women’s world opens have run concurrently in the country where the sport was invented.
Beginning on 11 October, the championships will see a mouth-watering line up of the world’s top 64 men and leading 32 ladies.
The finals will be on Sunday 19 October.
Men’s world number one and defending world champion, Egyptian Amr Shabana, is hotly tipped to retain his crown, while Malaysian Nicol David will look to assert herself at the top of the female sport by improving on a disappointing performance last year.
