Heading for Beijing

11/ 7/2008

NORTH Manchester footballer Wayne Ward is off to the Paralympics in Beijing.

He is included in the cerebral palsy seven-a-side squad which will carry British hopes.

The team earned a place in the Paralympics when they finished seventh in last year’s CPISRA seven-a-side world championships in Brazil.

Wayne was in that team and recently played for GB in an international tournament.

Also in the GB squad for the Paralympics is Manchester cyclist Sarah Storey.

This will be her fifth games, although she made her debut as a swimmer in 1996 when she won gold in Barcelona.

She switched to cycling after the last Paralympics and has since won world and European titles.
