Fight fans treated to a fine finale

THE Fox Amateur Boxing Club held an end of season show at the Lightbowne Social Club in Moston.

Fox juniors were involved in the first two contests of the night.

Calum Nuttall, pictured right, beat John Kay of Loverlite on a unanimous decision, while Ryan Manifold lost a close contest against Josh Rayflin of Broughton.

A cracking third contest saw Dale Coyne (Fox) beat Ryan Cawley (Droylsden), all three judges going for Coyne at the end of the bout.

Josh Lorpin (Fox) lost a close decision to Sean Johnson of Bredbury.

Fox senior Charlie O’Brien proved far too strong for Paramount’s Usman Rasool.

The referee stopped the contest in the second round after Rasool had been caught by hard left-hooks and rights.

The next contest, between Fox light-middleweight Liam McArdle and Ricky Malcolm of Old Trafford was a real crowd-pleaser.

They were toe to toe for three hard-fought rounds before Malcolm took the nod from the judges.

The final contest of the evening saw Fox heavyweight Anthony Sheridan in action.

He was up against Gavin Richards of Ardwick Lads Club.

Fight fans were on their feet for this one.

Richards took a standing count in the first round, Sheridan took one in the last.

Both gave their all but the decision went to Richards.

Other results were: Mark Till (Tom Lowe) lost to Chris Healey (Bredbury); Tom Dooley (Roche) lost to Tom Johnson (Bredbury); Jordan Malcolm (Old Trafford) beat Liam Jones (Tameside).
