Just grand as Ace wins title

JASON Crump is right back in the world speedway title hunt.

The Belle Vue superstar capped a dramatic return to his best form by winning the British Grand Prix in front of a 45,000 crowd at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium last Saturday night.

The two-times world champion gave defending No 1 Nicki Pedersen a stark warning that this year’s title hunt is not a foregone conclusion.

Crump has cut Pedersen’s overall lead to 10 points, and it would have been less but for some controversial decisions by Polish referee Marek Wojaczek.

Pedersen has reached all five finals this year without winning one, and with six GPs to go Crump is the man in form and gaining fast on his rival.

Jubilant Crump, currently the World No 3, said: "Things have started to fall into place since the beginning of the month, and my league form is now being reflected in Grand Prix racing.

"I didn't have a good year in the 2007 GP, but now I’m back where I want to be and a lot of hard work is paying off. Nicki has had it all his own way for too long."
