Cleworth win little comfort for Blackley

BLACKLEY lost their last match of the season in the Lancashire GMC Super League. They were beaten 7-3 at Little Hulton.

Alan Cleworth gave the visitors the lead, but the next four sets went to Hulton.

Pete Ward picked up the sixth set, but the match was already lost when Gary Lyons won the ninth.

Three players hit 180s - Mark Smith, Eric Quinn and Jason Green - all in defeat.

Mark Holden, pictured, who plays for Grove Inn (Blackley) won the Middleton Thursday League's House Knockout title when he got the better of Woodside's Ian Slattery in the final.

Holden, and others, will have a chance to win two more titles in the next few days.

The second annual Moston Log-End Classic is played tomorrow at the Lightbowne Social Club, Kenyon Lane, strike-out 8pm. Entry is £7.50, with £20 to the winner.

On Sunday, a number of players from the area will be involved in the Radcliffe Classic on the big board at Radcliffe Borough Football Club.

Entry is £7.50, with £500 in prize money, half of that going to the winner.
