Paul pots title of Star of the Future

A YOUNG snooker player from Blackley is making a big name for himself.
Paul Clynes is under the wing of Reg Davies who runs a snooker academy in Whitefield.
Davies said: "Paul came to me on recommendation from the owner of a snooker club in Bury, via his grandfather who rang me to see if I would take him on as a pupil.
"He had been playing on a 6 ft snooker table since he was eight-years-old, and after an assessment of one hour I thought the boy had possibilities.
"He started with me in September last year, aged ten, and six months later Paul was in his first competition - the North West under 16s.
"He excelled beyond all expectations, winning nine matches before losing to an older boy with a lot more experience."
In February, Paul was entered into a competition in Prestatyn called Star of the Future.
He won 14 matches before losing in the quarter-finals, but he had done enough to win a Star of the Future trophy.
