Another success for Villa’s young tournament stars

9/ 5/2008

TOURNAMENT maestros Clayton Villa last weekend won their fifth cup final in 18 months.

Villa’s first division side got off to a slow start, winning two and losing two, but they then went on a winning streak which saw them finish at the top of their group table.

Villa then met Stockport Junior Blues in a two-legged affair.

The first leg was an absorbing 0-0 draw. The second leg was nerve racking to watch, with both teams having chances.

Villa looked the more likely to score though, and with the game looking like it could go to penalties Bradley Pargeter unleashed a shot which dipped behind the keeper and into the net.

Play was end to end in a frantic last five minutes before Villa scored a well made goal. Ryan Cooney rounded off a move which involved Adao, Joe Martin and Ben Fletcher.
