Two-goal Ryan sparks victory for on-form Tigers

MANCHESTER Tigers played division one new boys Stalybridge Celtic last weekend.

Celtic played a high tempo game and had the better of the first half. Tigers were restricted to stopping Celtic from breaking through, with some great defending by Alex Bateman and Ben Fletcher.

The second half was a different story as Tigers spread the play well and had more of the ball.

Within a few minutes captain Joe Martin had slotted the ball through to the on-running Ryan Cooney for him to score.

The goal effectively changed the game and Tigers then dominated.

Chinedu capped a workmanlike performance with an excellent goal to make it 2-0.

Celtic did pull one back, but Ryan Cooney seized on a defensive error to make it 3-1 to Tigers.

Tigers’ B team produced an excellent first-half performance and were 2-0 up by half time.

They hit shot after shot only to be denied by the in form Muhktar Adeyemi.

Sam Qureshi was a constant danger to Celtic.

Lewis McAnaw was commanding in the centre of defence, but it was the ever improving Dylan Withington who impressed most.

Alex Scanlon played out of position and was a constant threat up front.

Declan Clarke bagged both for Tigers. Two late goals gave Celtic a share of the spoils.
