Juniors finish in style

DESPITE missing several key players Moston Juniors under nines A finished their season in style with a hard fought victory over local rivals Northside A.

Northside had all of the early play and deservedly took the lead with a fine long-range effort from Bailey Thornton.

This seemed to wake up Juniors, and they came more and more into the game. It took a breathtaking save by Northside's keeper to keep his team in front.

But Juniors levelled with a sweetly struck shot from Gideon Adu-Peprah.

In the second half Juniors played some good football, but it took a stroke of luck for them to go in front. An effort from Jack O'Leary spun wickedly past the despairing dive of the keeper.

Northside almost hit back straight away, but a fine save by Connor Kearney kept them out, and a follow-up effort was over the bar.

Juniors increased their lead when a well worked corner led to Gideon Adu-Peprah neatly tucking the ball home at the near post.

The last five minutes saw Juniors produce some flowing football, and player of the match Gideon Adu-Peprah completed his hat-trick when he fired home after the ball had bounced around the box.
