Trophy win for girls

23/ 5/2008

MOSTON Valley Girls’ entered the AFC Urmston Meadow Girls Tournament last weekend.

The under 10s met some really strong opposition, but all the girls - Jade Armstrong, Demy Thomas, Lois John, Tia John, Brittany Power, Katie Farnsworth, Catherine Davies and Tyler Rostrum enjoyed themselves none the less and are looking forward to the next event in June.

Valley under 11s were missing a couple of players, but despite this they managed to finish third overall and were unlucky not to get into the final.

Shannon Manson, Emily Fox, Lydia Unstill, Georgia Jaffrey, Victoria Boardman and Beth Tina were outstanding.

The under 13s had the best day out of all the Valley teams.

They lost only one match and managed to defeat Manchester City who had beaten them in a cup final earlier this year.

When it came to the final it was Valley facing old league rivals Heyside Angels Navy’s.

Within minutes Kayo Clarke hit a rocket of a shot which slipped through the keeper’s hands and put Moston in the driving seat.

Sophie Madden slotted in another goal before half time.

Annette Schofield made it three early in the second half, and Sophie Madden banged in a fourth to wrap the game up for Valley.

VALLEY under eights had a great result when they faced Failsworth Rangers B.

Bailey Moth put them in front, and that proved the only goal of the first half.

Failsworth equalised, and Valley couldn’t find a winner despite their best efforts.

Liam Allen was Valley’s player of the match. Liam Egan had a great game in defence.

VALLEY under nines faced Soccer Dynamos on Sunday.

Dynamos were first to score, but the goal sparked Valley into life and Riley Moth put his team in front with a double.

Player of the match Josh Davies then found the net with a thunderbolt, and Riley Moth completed his hat-trick to round off a 4-1 win.
