Falcons back at full-strength - and on form
21/ 3/2008
AFTER being dogged by injuries in some of their recent games Moston Valley Falcons returned to full strength to face an ever improving Denton Youth team last Sunday.
Falcons looked the more dominant team in the early stages, and after several near misses and good saves by the Denton keeper they took the lead with a fabulous strike from Edwin Nurse.
A spirited Falcons' team took to the pitch for the second half looking keener than ever, and a great goal from Edwin Nurse put them further in front.
A foul in the box brought Falcons a penalty. The keeper made a brilliant save, but after a scramble in the area the ball was finally hammered into the back of the net by Adam Valentine.
Falcons' latest signings Elias McPherson and Luke Jackson had great debuts and fitted in really well.
MOSTON Valley's under 14 girls achieved a fantastic win over Uppermill.
Girl of the match Amy Ginty gave them an early lead and quickly scored another two. Ciara O'Reilly added two more before half time.
Moston took the second half by storm. O'Reilly took her match tally to four, and Ginty bagged another two.
Faye Boothroyd also found the net with a great shot.
With less than a couple of minutes to go a misstimed tackle in the area left Valley with a penalty. Olivia Tonge stepped up to take the kick and made it 11-0.
Ramone Fleck, Mica Bowen and Nicole Donoghue all had brilliant games.
VALLEY under eights had a great game against Pro Sports Strikers.
Carl Cain hit the net first for Valley.
Strikers fought back well in the second half and secured an equaliser, but a powerful shot from Valley's Ryan Robinson deflected off a Pro Sports defender and into their net with about five minutes to go.
Valley's player of the match was Bailey Moth who along with Lucy Howarth, Byron Manson,Lewis Koranteng, Natalie Sheppard, Callum McDonald, Jack Bates and Lyam Egan had a good game.
MOSTON Valley under 14s met AFC Stanley.
Player of the match Kieran Campbell scored the only goal.
The under nines had a bad day when they faced Springhead.
But after going 5-0 down they sprung into life.
Player of the match Riley Moth was first to score, then goals came from Konna Cain, Jayden Fallon and Kane McLaughlin.
Unfortunately Valley could not grab an equaliser.
Valley under 10s faced Heywood Rangers and managed to secure another three points.
Moston played magnificently throughout, and goals came from player of the match Christopher Orija, the newly signed Attie, Louie Cooper and Declan Sykes.
Valley Angels 12s just missed out on picking up the runners-up title when they faced Droylsden Juniors in their last league match of the season.
Both teams played well, but Moston were a little slow off the mark and definitely missed defender Annette Schofield.
Droylsden went 2-0 up, but goals from Lydia Tunstall and Beth Tynan brought the scores level before half time.
Droylsden grabbed a late goal which left the Angels stunned.
Girl of the match was Nashay Motler. Natasha Chadwick, Georgia Caffrey, Sophie Madden and Caprice McSharry all had good games.
