Georgia spot on as Angels clinch tournament win

MOSTON Valley’s two under 12s girls’ teams braved the wind and rain last weekend when they competed in Beechfield United’s annual McDonalds tournament in Swinton.

Angels, pictured right, and Saints played some great football.

Saints were unfortunately knocked out by a single goal in their quarter-final, despite dominating the game.

Angels beat their opponents quite convincingly to secure a place in the semi-finals against one of the two Bury teams entered.

Angels started strongly and ran out winners.

They then faced the other Bury team in what can only be described as a fantastic final.

Neither side found the net and it went to penalties

Bury scored their first, Caprice McSharry levelled.

Bury’s second was saved magnificently by Hollie Egan.

After a couple of missed attempts by Angels, and some more great saves by Egan, it was all down to the last penalty, to be taken by Georgia Caffrey.

She took a big run up then tapped the ball deftly past the diving keeper to win the match for Angels.
