Style Notes: Trendy teachers

Jemma Gofton
21/ 8/2008

I DON'T think I am being unkind when I say that, as a rule, teachers won't set the fashion world ablaze.

In my day it was knee-length tweed skirts, comfy shoes with a lifetime guarantee and cardigans that could double as a fire blanket in case of an incident in the science block.

With this in mind we decided it was time to bring a couple of teachers up-to-date in the style stakes, so we enlisted the help of four pupils from Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar School to make over Miss.

Our on-trend girls had very set ideas of how they thought teachers should dress and were soon persuading them to try on pencil skirts and ruffled shirts.

You can see the makeover tonight on Style In The City at 8.30pm.

There are many style rules I am unsure of: can I wear black with navy? Is denim with denim a bit too Status Quo?

But the main one is when do you get too old to wear a mini skirt? Well, on tonight's show we ask one stylist to fill us in on the long and short of maxis versus minis. There are so many things to take into consideration that if I am honest I am still undecided but until I do come to a conclusion I am still rocking the minis.

This week a miracle happened in the Style offices. Researcher Kimberley has been converted into a healthy eater. Not such a big feat I hear you say, but this is the girl who used to eat anything and everything, whenever she wanted.

All it took to put her off her much loved crisps and choccies was a conversation with nutrionist Coby Langford.

The ever healthy Coby was on hand to offer advice on how to eat well while keeping an eye on the pennies.

So, if you need some lifestyle changing advice make sure you're tuned to Channel M tonight.
