Real Sharp dresser...

SHE'S been the brashest-dressed girl in Manchester for the past fortnight as High School Musical's Sharpay, but actress Helen George is somewhat more refined in real life.

Helen has been wowing the sold-out audiences at Manchester's Palace Theatre as "mean girl" Sharpay in the first live touring production of the hit Disney movie, not least with her bold outfits which include skin-tight jeans with bright green boots and the teeniest hotpants since Kylie Minogue.

But when we had a catch up at Manchester's Room restaurant, Helen was the picture of elegant chic. She laughed: "I do get some really mad costumes, it's certainly not what I would usually wear.

"But, surprisingly enough, a lot of people want to steal the green boots that Sharpay wears off me."

Interest in the show is so high that the current cast are beseiged by fans at stage doors after every performance.

Helen says: "The stage managers have to act as bouncers after the show and we even get followed home by besotted fans too."
