Hollywood style

4/ 2/2008

WHILE we have our fair share of glamorous celebrities here in Manchester, it's not every day a Hollywood star jets in to town. So pictures of Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria strolling along with Victoria Beckham at the recent M.E.N. Arena Spice Girls gigs were a gossip sensation.

In the UK to promote her new film, Over Her Dead Body, Eva just had to pop up and pay Posh a visit, apparently. Seems the pair have struck up quite a friendship stateside.

Petite and chic, what struck us was her immaculate attention to detail. Just like her Desperate Housewives character, Gabrielle Solis, she's perfectly preened. However, she reckons she doesn't worry at all about her looks. In fact, she reckons new hubby Tony Parker loves her however she is.

"Tony would love it if I gained weight and stayed fat at home," she laughs. Instead of aiming for the Tinseltown ideal of size zero, Eva says she'd rather retain a few curves.

"I work out three times a week with my trainer at my house, but I'm not obsessed," she says. "I don't do it because of expectations, I do it because I want to live a healthy lifestyle. My degree is in kinesiology, which is the study of the body and healthy living, so it's natural for me to want to be in shape and eat right anyway. So no, I don't do it because of other people's expectations. It's just for me."

Eva's wedding to Tony in France was one of the biggest A-list bashes of last year. Although the 32-year-old seems to have taken it all in her stride.

"My wedding co-ordinator did everything. I didn't want to call the shots. I don't care about the flowers and the rest of it. I just cared about the actual marriage, the union and the sacrament."

But while she was an easy-going bride in real life, Eva appreciated the chance to be a little more belligerent on screen, in her new film.

"It's always fun to be a Bridezilla in a movie," she admits. "I was probably the opposite of that at my wedding. I was very calm, and didn't really care about any hors d'oeuvres or anything, or whether people ate or not. I just wanted to have my moment with my husband."

Once this film promotion finishes, Eva will be jetting back to San Antonio, Texas, where basketball player Tony works while she commutes to Los Angeles.

When she's not filming, however, she says she loves catching up with fans.

"I love it when fans approach me and I'm very welcoming of that. I'll have pictures and sign autographs and things."

So feel free to ask her a few style tips if you ever bump into her (or, if you think the chances are slim, check out our own suggestions for copying her daytime look, right).
